Upper Elementary

READING AND WRITING

In 3rd through 6th grade, students advance their language arts skills through engaging and challenging activities. They delve deeper into reading comprehension, exploring a variety of genres and analyzing texts for themes, character development, and literary devices.

Writing assignments become more complex, encompassing persuasive essays, creative stories, and research projects. Collaborative discussions and peer reviews enhance their ability to articulate ideas and provide constructive feedback. Through these experiences, students refine their grammar, vocabulary, and critical thinking skills, becoming more confident and effective communicators.

MATH AND SCIENCE

In 3rd through 6th grade, students enhance their math and science skills through increasingly complex and engaging activities. In math, they tackle advanced concepts such as multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, algebra and geometry. Hands-on activities, math games, and technology integration make learning dynamic and interactive.

In science, students delve into subjects like earth science, physical science, and biology through experiments, observations, and inquiry-based projects. Problem-solving and critical thinking are emphasized as students work through real-world applications and collaborative projects. By the end of 6th grade, students have a strong foundation in both math and science, preparing them for more advanced studies and practical applications in everyday life.

PROJECT APPROACH

In 3rd through 6th grade, students use the project approach to enhance the curriculum by engaging in hands-on, interest-driven activities. Instead of just reading about batteries, they build their own, applying scientific principles in a practical way. These projects, ranging from a few days to a full semester, are crafted around students' interests, making learning both meaningful and exciting.
