Animal Education Program
At Redbud Farm School, our pigs, goats, and chickens are more than just farm animals—they are integral to our academic program and the learning experiences we offer. Each day, students actively participate in caring for these animals, fostering a sense of responsibility, empathy, and respect for living creatures.
In our math curriculum, students engage in hands-on activities such as measuring feed portions, calculating animal care costs, and graphing growth data. These practical applications reinforce mathematical concepts and demonstrate their relevance in real-world contexts.
Science lessons come alive through studying animal behavior, life cycles, and biology. Students observe firsthand how our animals interact within their habitats, conduct experiments to understand their dietary needs, and document their findings in detailed journals. These experiences develop their observation skills and nurture a curiosity for the natural world.
Beyond academic subjects, our farm animals provide opportunities for interdisciplinary learning. For instance, projects like designing and constructing animal shelters integrate engineering principles with practical needs, while studying the nutritional needs of our animals incorporates health sciences and agricultural studies.
