Cultivating Academic Excellence
At Redbud Farm School, our curriculum fosters active engagement and deep understanding. Students here become directly involved in their physical and social environments, learning best through personal life experiences where they observe, explore, and document the world around them. We utilize the Ready Curriculum for Language Arts and Math, supplemented by iReady Diagnostics three times a year, to gauge learning progress and fine-tune lesson plans for enhanced performance. Our hands-on approach to science and social studies ensures that students are not just passive learners but active participants in their education, with cross-curricular lessons seamlessly integrating various disciplines. We proudly announce that our program will be fully accredited for the 2024/25 school year, adhering to Oklahoma Academic Standards to provide a comprehensive and enriching learning experience for every student.
Individualized Learning
Redbud Farm School provides families and students with an alternative learning method. We understand that not all children learn the same, so we structure our curriculum to meet each child’s needs. This is done through small class sizes of 12-14 students, individualized small-group learning, and alternative classroom arrangements.
Students are divided into groups of no more than five students for individual small groups in math and language. Groups are also available in other subjects as needed. In addition, students have multiple seating and classroom arrangement options to meet their individual learning needs. Students may complete assignments at a desk while sitting on a floor pillow at our custom-built coffee table or alone at a desk without distractions. Students can choose the learning environment that best meets their needs with a trained teacher’s guidance.
Alternating Indoor and Outdoor Classrooms
Students at Redbud Farm School enjoy a unique learning experience where they alternate between engaging indoor and outdoor classroom assignments. This approach helps students stay focused and allows them to reap the benefits of learning in nature. From science and math projects to writing assignments and social studies units, our students thrive in the outdoor classroom, fostering a deeper connection to the world around them.
Our Guiding Principles
01 HOLISTIC EDUCATION
We believe that education is not confined to traditional classroom walls. Our approach combines rigorous academic learning with hands-on activities, fostering a well- rounded development that promotes critical thinking, creativity, and practical skills. Through experiential learning, students discover the joy of exploration and the satisfaction of discovering knowledge through their own efforts.
02 NATURE AS A CLASSROOM
Our farm campus provides an unparalleled learning environment where students engage with the natural world. We recognize the inherent value of connecting with nature and incorporate outdoor experiences into our daily routines. The farm setting allows students to develop a deep appreciation for the environment, fostering a lifelong commitment to conservation and sustainable practices.
03 HANDS-ON LEARNING
Learning is most meaningful when it is hands-on and relevant. Our curriculum is designed to engage students through interactive projects, problem-solving challenges, and real- world applications. Whether cultivating gardens, caring for animals, or participating in farm-to- table experiences, students learn the value of hard work, responsibility, and teamwork.
05 INDIVIDUALIZED LEARNING
Each student is a unique individual with strengths, interests, and pace of development. Our approach acknowledges and respects these differences, allowing us to tailor instruction to meet each student's needs. This personalized learning experience empowers students to take ownership of their education and grow at their own pace.
04 ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP
We believe in nurturing a sense of responsibility towards our planet. By integrating environmental education into our curriculum, we empower students to become informed and engaged citizens who understand the impact of their choices on the world around them. Our students graduate not only with academic knowledge but also with a deep-rooted sense of environmental stewardship.
06 COMMUNITY AND COLLABORATION
We foster a sense of community where students, teachers, parents, and staff work together to create a supportive and enriching learning environment. Through collaborative projects, peer interactions, and community engagement, students develop social skills, empathy, and a strong sense of belonging.
07 CULTIVATING LIFELONG LEARNING
Our ultimate goal is to inspire a lifelong love of learning. By providing a diverse range of experiences, encouraging curiosity, and instilling a growth mindset, we prepare our students to be adaptable, confident, and curious individuals ready to face the challenges and opportunities of the future.
